Other than selling stocks or shares for a higher price, in what other way can a stock make money for me?

Well, you can 'short' stocks, and make money when the stock goes lower. I assume you are looking for the usual methods, this would be the dividends paid as the company profits.
You generally make money on a stock when the market goes up. You have other additional income from the stocks when they pay a dividend, or split.
