Question: Does WalMart own stock in Earth Fare and if so how much?

Answer:

in all of my searches I just find Earth Fare is a competitor to WalMart and fare a food products are concerned....nothing more.

Almost surely not because:
a) There seems to be no mention of Earth Fare or any unconsolidated susidiaries in WMT's 10-K. That would mean WMT would have to have a small investment in Earth Fare.
b) Earth Fare is listed in various places as a private company
c) Earth Fare has annual revenue of $100M dollars. The most that this could mean to WMT because of previous two is an equity investment in something with total revenue accruing to WMT of $20M. WMT has annual revenue of $500B. If WMT did have an investment in Earth Fare, someone in management would ask why they were messing around with this stupid little investment and kick it out the door.
d) Some old stuff on the Internet suggests that they are largely financed by some private equity company I have never heard of in Massachusetts.http://www.allbusiness.com/retail-trade/…
